Robert Cameron

My Kind of Floral

This wall hung sculpture is Cameron’s interpretation of a floral. Sealed inside hand-blown borosilicate glass vessels is over 2000 mL of wine. The wine is sealed in a way that protects it from air and harmful UV light to suspend the ageing process of the wine.

The minimalist silhouette of the flowers is done in a contemporary ballistic steel material to reject the cliche of the florals that have been created by other artists in the past. The wine radiates from behind the steel due to the interaction of the liquid with light against an acrylic mirror.

The intention with this piece and all of my work is to elevate wine from something that is merely consumed and appreciated to something that is held in reverence.
